Welcome to another Squids Update! What do we have on the menu today?
BUG FIXES
- The Daily Score mode was a bit drunk. We've let it sleep it off and made sure it had a nice cup of coffee in the morning. Daily Score Mode will now update properly instead of getting stuck in a weird state sometimes
BALANCE
- Cranky mode is probably one of the twitchiest modes in the game, and while it sometimes feels impossible, it turns out there was a situation where it actually was impossible. Put in a little bit of logic to prevent the death-channel from appearing, when two pipes spawn at minimum distance from each other, and at maximum heights in either direction. Your Cranky scores are now entirely your own fault.
POLISH & OPTIMIZATIONS
- Made it so the "You Died" popup doesn't get immediately squashed if you were frantically tapping A when you died. This should give you a chance to see what-the-heck happened
- Noticed that Swingy Squid's turning animation got very weird on mirror mode. Changed the logic a bit and it's working great!
- Baked some more sprite sheets for the environment. Didn't really need to, but less CPU pressure is always nice
And in other news...
Our leaderboards had their first weekend, and I have already been dethroned in my own game! Let's give a shoutout to homeyofhyrule for posting a 99 to the Floaty board, and to Toad for a commanding 73 on the Cranky board (where I can barely break 50, sheesh!)
